ALUG
- Sharing Linux and GNU in East Anglia

Join ALUG Now!

East Anglia is a large area, so email and IRC supplement the normal meetings. This also means that you don't have to wait until you can go to a meeting before getting help on a problem.

Co-ordinators

If you want to help run ALUG, you can try emailing your local contact or a particular person off the list of who does what. If you have trouble getting a response, please contact the email list admins instead.

Mailing Lists

The main email list is the backbone of ALUG and the main way of organising meetings, answering questions, and so on.

You can join the list by going to its web site. You can also check the archives to see if a question has been asked before. The main mailing list now sends around 50 messages each week. If you just don't want new email that often, you can receive them in daily batches.

You can also add yourself to the list of who's who on this site.

Announcements

If you only want announcements, not discussions, you can subscribe to the announcements list. This list sends at most one message a day and usually a lot less. Announcements are also sent to the main list, so you don't need to subscribe to this if you are already subscribed to the main list.

Social List

Some friendships have been made through ALUG and it's only natural that people want to talk about things that aren't really ALUG. After a particularly long ramble, the Social mailing list was created for discussions that aren't really about Linux at all, but just happen to involve people from ALUG.

IRC Chats

We've been meeting up on IRC each Monday evening starting from about 2000 (8pm) UK time. We're in #alug on the Open and Free Technology Community IRC Network, server irc.alug.org.uk or irc.oftc.net and there is a list of who's who on IRC on this site.

Sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's quiet. Come along and chat.

Discussion

If you want to talk about this, please use the main mailing list.
